WHEN YOU SAID
YOU DIDN'T LOVE ME
 

A hush fell on the earth when you said you didn't love me,
I'm certain, at that moment, no humans spoke and no birds sang,
The winds must have ceased and the leaves failed to rustle,
Great music surrendered to silence and the waves refused to roar,
Fishes were unable to swim and roses gave no scent,
Diamonds failed to sparkle and the world fell asleep,
Time stopped when you said you didn't love me.
The air suddenly vanished, because I couldn't breathe,
Tears filled my eyes and I could no longer see,
Life must have left me, my heart no longer beat,
My mind froze, because I couldn't comprehend.
The heavens cried when you said you didn't love me.
Dreams vanished and hid themselves from my sight,
Hope disintegrated and crashed all about me,
Devotion disappeared, fallen, spent and wasted,
I could no longer see myself in the blue of your eyes,
Your hand slipped from mine and failed to reach again,
The magic in the sound of your name was stolen from me,
Your heart denied me, piercing my soul as it departed,
Oh, I wonder!
Did the Angels cry when you said you didn't love me?
